Camden is the self proclaimed “Jewel of the Coast” and rightly so. If you are coming from the south, traveling along Route 1, you have experienced several exceptional coastal communities, from Kennebunk to Portland, Freeport to Brunswick, Boothbay to Damariscotta. Continuing north, you will want to stop at Moody’s Diner, a Maine landmark, that has accommodated travels for nearly 100 years.

As you continue North, the hustle an bustle of the communities thin a bit more and you begin to experience the Midcoast Region of Maine. Camden is one of the iconic Maine settings for many movie productions. The website, Camden Experience is great resource for the many attractions that are just 15 minutes south of Rocky Top Hideaway.

Rocky Top Hideaway is just south of Belfast and a must see Coastal Community. The Belfast Chamber of Commerce is a great source of attractions, from local restaurants to the annual events that blanket the spring and summer seasons.

While the high season in Maine is from Memorial to Labor Day, September and October are two of the most beautiful months of the year to visit. September is crisp, warm during the day, with subtle reminders of the cool nights that are returning. The above photo is from Cadillac mountain in Acadia National Park, a must see.
